Cellular providers are offering a wide variety of high quality ringtones and wallpaper for cell phones, but no easy way to upload your own pictures and sound.

By using this site, you will turn pictures of loved ones into wallpaper and your favorite sounds into ringtones.

Here is a little background to get you started:

There are two types of ringtones: polyphonic and MP3, with only newer phones supporting mp3.

To send a polyphonic ringtone or an MP3 ringtone to a cell phone, upload a midi or an MP3 file respectively.

To send a wallpaper, upload a .bmp, .gif or .jpg file.

Most cell phone providers limit the size of multimedia messages and we recommend that you do not send images or sounds larger than 100 Kbytes to a polyphonic phone.

The average data transfer speed for a cell phones is 1 Kbyte/second, and very large files will take a long time to upload into your phone. To reduce wait times, we truncate all messages larger than 350,000 bytes.

Installing

 For all phones, open the multimedia message and choose save sound or picture depending

on the type of file. Then, depending on the type of phone:

Nokia

Wallpaper: Save image to Graphics folder.

Select Menu |Settings |Display Settings |Walpaper | Change image. Select the image from list in the Graphics folder

Ringtone: Save sound to Tones folder.

Select Menu| Settings |Tone Settings|Ringing Tone|Open Galery|Tones. Select the sound from the list in the Tones folder
Samsung

Walpaper: Phone Settings | Display Settings | Wallpaper | Wallpaper List.

Ringtone:  is selected through Funbox | Sounds

T-Mobile customer are charged $.25 per multimedia message, or can sign-up for a discounted plan at T-Mobile.com.

Cingular customers can register at Cingular.com/media/multimedia_messaging_purchase.

Verizon customers can register at Vzwpix.com/auth/reg.do.

Sprint customers need to register by signing on to My PCS and selecting Sprint PCS Picture Mail as a service option.
